ANAM at the Convent: Michael Collins Workshop

Michael Collins, one of the foremost clarinettists of his generation, concludes his ANAM residency with a unique workshop, offering ANAM musicians the chance to learn the art of playing and directing a Classical concerto. In this open rehearsal setting, he will guide musicians as they perform and direct without a conductor—an invaluable skill for soloists to learn.

Collins’ career has seen him perform with leading orchestras worldwide, including the Melbourne Symphony, BBC Symphony, and the Zurich Chamber Orchestra. For many years, he has been dedicated to expanding the clarinet repertoire and has given premières of significant works such as John Adams’ Gnarly Buttons, Elliott Carter’s Clarinet Concerto, which earned him a Gramophone award for his recording on Deutsche Grammophon, and Brett Dean’s Ariel’s Music.
