Getting Here

Ride/Walk
The Capital City cycling and walking path directly passes the precinct. The St Heliers Street turn-off is opposite the entrance to the Collingwood Children's Farm. Bicycle racks are located throughout the Convent and also adjacent to the car park.

By Public Transport
Catch a Mernda or Hurstbridge line train to Victoria Park Station, which is a 10-15 minute walk to the Convent. Alternatively, catch a route 200 or 207 bus down Johnston Street to the Clarke Street stop, which is a 3-5 minute walk away.

Visit ptv.vic.gov.au for timetable information.

By Car
All day parking is available in the car park directly across from the Convent on St Heliers St. The machines accept credit cards, notes and gold coins. Funds from the car park go towards the restoration and daily operation of the Convent, and also support the neighbouring Collingwood Children's Farm.

Accessibility

The Abbotsford Convent Foundation acknowledges that there are some access challenges inherent in some of the Convent's heritage buildings but is very committed to improving accessibility.

Wheelchair Accessibility

Our main performance spaces, the Rosina Auditorium and The Good Shepherd Chapel, are wheelchair accessible. Some surfaces within the Convent gardens and grounds are difficult to navigate and assistance may be required to ensure wheelchair accessibility. Gradients vary from gentle slopes to the north to fairly steep slopes to the south.

Accessible power points are available for people to recharge the battery in their motorised wheelchairs, scooters or bikes. The power points are located externally, on the western side of the Providence building.

Accessible Parking
Accessible car park spaces available:

  • Two two-hour accessible on-street parking spaces are located on St Heliers Street, beside Gate One.
  • Six accessible parking places are located at the front of the car park on the northern side of St Heliers Street.

Car parks are located within a short distance of Gate One. The entrance is near a dedicated pedestrian thoroughfare and road cross over.

Toilets
Toilets are available in the Rosina building (accessible) and the Good Shepherd Chapel (access through stairs) for our audiences. Public toilets are also available at the back of the Convent Annexe, and in the Sacred Heart Courtyard. A baby change facility and disabled toilet exists within the public toilets of the Convent Annexe.

Assistance Dogs
Assistance dogs are welcome throughout the Convent's grounds and buildings. Dogs must be kept on a leash at all times.
