Beethoven's World: Hero

A series of four concerts each presenting a particular aspect of Beethoven’s life and character.

This concert invites you to step into Beethoven’s world of grand gestures, where music transcends mere entertainment to reveal deeper truths. Beethoven believed music could express the core of human experience, and this performance echoes that very idea.

ANAM Musicians, led by Paavali Jumppanen, perform Beethoven's Three Equals for trombones, a compact yet powerful piece. Next is Beethoven’s Marcia Funebre, arranged by ANAM Librarian Alex Owens, reflecting themes of loss and heroism. The evening concludes with Ferdinand Ries’ piano quartet arrangement of the Eroica Symphony, a transformative work that changed the course of music history.
