A series of four concerts each presenting a particular aspect of Beethoven’s life and character.
Join us for a concert that unveils the vibrant spirit of a teenage Beethoven, brimming with ambition and creativity. Experience his captivating Piano Quartet in C major, composed when he was just 14 or 15. This piece is a celebration of humor, energy, and originality, and is one of the first known examples of the genre.
But Beethoven’s journey didn’t stop there. With a humble heart, teenage Beethoven sought to further his artistry under the mentorship of the esteemed Josef Haydn. The refinement he acquired under Haydn's guidance can be heard in his effortlessly urbane Septet for winds and strings. It became the composer’s biggest hit, performed more frequently in his lifetime than any of his other works.
