As a musician’s instrumental proficiency develops, so too does their artistic taste and temperament. Each ANAM musician’s recital is a snapshot in time – simultaneously summarising their year of training and revealing glimpses of their future selves. What music excites them? What do they want to communicate? How does their art help them understand the world better? Hear what the next generation of virtuosi have to say, and how, in the 2025 ANAM Recital series.
Intimate Piano Music
"From Mozart to Berg, these solo piano works reflect a vast range of emotions in a personal concert setting. As opposed to concerti and operas, Mozart's sonatas were performed for smaller audiences in more domestic settings, and his Sonata No. 14 is both exciting and tender. Schumann also fluctuates between similar feelings in his Fantasiestücke op. 12, a set of 8 pieces exploring the composer's two sides - dreaming and passion. Finally, Berg's Sonata op. 1 stands as a piece so deeply passionate yet equally inimate and heartfelt." — Sarah Chick
