**RESCHEDULED** ANAM Recital: Liam Furey

Please note: this performance was originally advertised to happen on Thursday 6 November at 11:00am. Due to unforeseen circumstances this performance will now happen on Wednesday 5 November at 1:30pm.

As a musician’s instrumental proficiency develops, so too does their artistic taste and temperament. Each ANAM musician’s recital is a snapshot in time – simultaneously summarising their year of training and revealing glimpses of their future selves. What music excites them? What do they want to communicate? How does their art help them understand the world better? Hear what the next generation of virtuosi have to say, and how, in the 2025 ANAM Recital series.

Furey plays with "Whimsey"!
"The music in this program all are expressions of humour and playfulness from composers of the 18th and 20th century. Starting with Mozart's opera-inspired voice in his "Piano Concerto No.12 in A Major", going to the Françaix's quirky and playful "Trio for Bassoon, Oboe and Piano". Vine's rhythmically-infused "Bagatelles" finish with his "Threnody", an exploration on the vulnerability of life. Shchedrin's "Humoresque" returns to opera-style, but in a clumsy, silly buffalo style. Laughter is welcome throughout (both externally and internally)." — Liam Furey
