ANAM Recital: Karen Chen

As a musician’s instrumental proficiency develops, so too does their artistic taste and temperament. Each ANAM musician’s recital is a snapshot in time – simultaneously summarising their year of training and revealing glimpses of their future selves. What music excites them? What do they want to communicate? How does their art help them understand the world better? Hear what the next generation of virtuosi have to say, and how, in the 2025 ANAM Recital series.

She/Her

"Although it is becoming more prevalent as a topic of curation, most of the 'great' tunes we listen to at concerts tend to not showcase women in music. I hope you will join me in this recital, where you will experience wonderful music written by female composers from different parts of the world. Some – you may know and like, and others – you will only now learn about!

I've tried to fit as much as possible in this recital to show as many creative women as possible, creating a cohesive yet colourful program. Expect to go on a journey from beautiful lush melodies to powerful and driving forces."
