As a musician’s instrumental proficiency develops, so too does their artistic taste and temperament. Each ANAM musician’s recital is a snapshot in time – simultaneously summarising their year of training and revealing glimpses of their future selves. What music excites them? What do they want to communicate? How does their art help them understand the world better? Hear what the next generation of virtuosi have to say, and how, in the 2025 ANAM Recital series.
A 6-Course Feast
"The program contains a wide variety of musical styles and characters, from baroque to Romantic to 21st Century. The audience will hear the baroque sounds of harpsichord, the flowing melodies and sweet harmonies of Schumann and Dvorak, as well as rhythmic and folk inspired elements in the Slovak Variations and Copenhagen. There's much to love in every piece in the program, and when they come together it's the contrast of style and character that I love the most. Each piece is a peek into the time period in which it was created. It has been amazing working on these pieces over the year, both with my fellow musicians but also with the five different teachers that have helped me. I've learnt so much and it's been great to broaden my musical horizons with some of these lesser known pieces. I hope you enjoy the program as much as I've enjoyed preparing it!" — Fergus Ascot
