ANAM Recital: Aditya Bhat (percussion)

ANAM Recitals are an opportunity for musicians to make their own personal musical statement, through performance, repertoire and presentation.

The Canadian anthropologist Marius Barbeau once described the musical stave as 'a rack upon which to pin down sounds and rhythms whatever they are, at least approximately'. With transient phenomena at its heart, this recital draws attention to the limited utility of this rack! Fragile, mutable sounds, improvisational approaches, and electronics come together to create cyclical events evocative of ritual and meditative states—hence, Non-linear transformations. The curation highlights the work of non-European origin musicians in this aesthetic space.
