As a musician’s instrumental proficiency develops, so too does their artistic taste and temperament. Each ANAM musician’s recital is a snapshot in time – simultaneously summarising their year of training and revealing glimpses of their future selves. What music excites them? What do they want to communicate? How does their art help them understand the world better? Hear what the next generation of virtuosi have to say, and how, in the 2026 ANAM Recital series.
Celebrating the Music of Per Nørgård
"The passing of Per Nørgård in May last year saw the loss of a pivotal and influential composer within the world of percussion, and the western canon as a whole. The composer Julian Anderson called Nørgård's style as "one of the most personal in contemporary music", an interesting praise considering his fixation on incredibly non-human aspects of life - namely the mathematical model of the "infinity series", a unique, self-similar integer series which Nørgård used to structure melody, rhythm, and form in his compositions.
All four works performed in this recital involve mathematical influence, but the resulting experience is something personal, intimate, and disarming." — Jonathan Parker
