About the composer:
Jakob Bragg has developed a compositional practice that engages in unconventional approaches to acoustic instruments, nurtures ongoing artistic relationships, and navigates the weird, the exploratory, and the ritualised. Based in Naarm/Melbourne, Jakob primarily works with new music specialists and collaborators with whom ideas of virtuosity, ornamentation, deconstruction, and the dramatic are explored.

Jakob has worked closely with artists including the ELISION Ensemble (AU), Arditti Quartet (EU), International Contemporary Ensemble (US), TAK Ensemble (US), Cikada (NO), London Philharmonic Orchestra (UK), Quatuor Tana (FR), Meitar Ensemble (IL), Zöllner-Roche Duo (UK/DE), Bron Saxophone Quartet (NL), eventuell.Duo (CH), panSonus (US), Marco Fusi (IT), Carl Rosman (AU/DE), Australia's Ossicle Duo, Rubiks Collective, Ensemble Offspring, Kupka's Piano, Syzygy Ensemble, Kurilpa String Quartet, The Song Company, Horsley and Williams Duo, Amber Evans, Alex Raineri, Phoebe Green, Ben Opie, Callum G’Froerer, and orchestras including the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, Australian Youth Orchestra, and the Queensland Philharmonia.

His works have been featured across the globe including China, USA, France, Germany, Italy, UK, Austria, The Netherlands, Türkiye, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Cambodia, Myanmar, New Zealand, and throughout Australia.

Jakob holds a PhD from the University of Huddersfield (UK) where he studied at the Centre for Research in New Music (CeReNeM) with Aaron Cassidy, Bryn Harrison, and Mary Bellamy. He has previously studied at the University of Melbourne with Elliott Gyger and Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University with Gerard Brophy. He has been fortunate to receive mentorship by composers such as Liza Lim, Brett Dean, Pierluigi Billone, Samir Odeh-Tamimi, Noriko Baba, and Mauro Lanza.
