About the composer:
Callum O’Reilly is an Australian composer, multi-instrumentalist, and multimedia artist whose work pushes traditional convention and stretches the limits of the classical ensemble. Drawing on elements of electronic music, hip-hop, pop, and modern jazz, he creates sonic worlds that feel both distinctly contemporary and subtly connected to the musical legacy of the past. Zen Buddhist philosophy and tradition play a central role in his artistic practice, informing both process and aesthetic.

His music has been performed and commissioned by numerous leading ensembles, including the Western Australian Symphony Orchestra, Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Omega Ensemble, Ensemble Offspring, Flinders Quartet, Australian National Academy of Music, Mix’t Trio, Perth Symphony Orchestra, Australian Youth Orchestra, Symbios Quartet, and Willoughby Symphony Orchestra. Having arranged over 100 orchestral works, Callum is increasingly sought after as an arranger of pop music and for classical crossover collaborations.

Callum has collaborated extensively in theatre, including two projects with award-winning choreographer Laura Boynes. An accomplished sound installation artist, his work has been showcased internationally, including in Fujiyoshida, Japan. In 2024, he completed a studio residency at the Perth Institute of Contemporary Art, where he created his first Dream Room, a multi-sensory, interactive music experience. Most recently, Callum completed the musical score for The Worm, an Australian feature film set to premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in 2026.

Callum is from Perth, WA / Boorloo, Whadjuk Noongar Country but is based in Narrm, Melbourne.
