*RESCHEDULED* ANAM Recital: Laura Cliff (flute)

Due to unforeseen circumstances, this recital has been rescheduled from the previously advertised date of Thursday, 26 October.

ANAM Recitals are an opportunity for musicians to make their own personal musical statement, through performance, repertoire and presentation.

Once Upon a Time...

"This recital will transport the audience to a land of Fairytales and mythologies, exploring the magic that music can ignite within our imaginations.

I have always gravitated toward programme music which involves painting a picture in the listener’s mind, particularly music with a storyline behind it. My favourite part of preparing a new work is discovering the purpose of a piece and the story it tells. Whether it is a set narrative, the historical context of the piece, or learning the composer’s intent; each inform and inspire me to develop my own interpretation of the piece to share with my audience.

In this recital, I am excited to explore the stories told in a vast array of pieces which range from the conventional through to those that challenge the outer edges of music.

This recital has been such a joy and challenge to prepare. This process has allowed me to further explore and experiment with a wide range of colours and expression that the flute (and piccolo) can produce, and challenging those boundaries. I have been particularly enjoying the challenge of playing various arrangements, and trying to make them sound as effective as the original scores and instruments they were intended for. I am very excited to share the stage alongside my fellow colleagues and friends as I perform my final ANAM recital." - Laura Cliff
