MusiciansNatalie Mavridis

Natalie is a Sydney-born violinist who has played the violin since age six. Growing up in a family who performed in a cabaret act, Natalie began her musical journey with an inspiration to learn and perform.

Natalie completed a Bachelor of Music (Performance) in 2020 at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, where she studied with Associate Professor Goetz Richter. During the degree, her love for music grew, especially for orchestral and chamber playing. Natalie performed in the Modern Music Ensemble, Sydney Conservatorium Chamber ensembles and Symphony Orchestra, and Ensemble Apex (2018-present).

In 2019, Natalie was a member of the Reverie Quartet, who were awarded the Henderson Travellers Scholarship. They took part in a summer music festival in Mantua, Italy, under the tutelage of Iakov Zats. Also in 2019, Natalie led the Sydney Conservatorium of Music’s Modern Music Ensemble on their tour to Chengdu, China. In 2020, Natalie was awarded the Dean’s List of Excellence in Academic Performance, and the University of Sydney Academic Merit Prize.

In 2024, Natalie is in her third year at the Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM), studying under Zoë Black and Adam Chalabi. As a student of ANAM, she has enjoyed numerous performances of solo, orchestral and chamber music. Highlights include a trio with Laurence Power, small chamber ensembles with members of the ACO in 2022/23, and the ACO National tour of Mozart in 2023. She has been a part of orchestral side by side programs with the Melbourne and Tasmanian Symphony Orchestras. In 2023, Natalie performed as a soloist with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra as a part of their Ears Wide Open series.

Natalie looks forward to being an Emerging Artist with the ACO in 2024, and to enjoying her final year at ANAM.

When not playing the violin, Natalie spends her time either knitting, baking bread or cooking up something yum!
