ANAM has unveiled its plans for a bold $65 million vision that will transform the South Melbourne Town Hall into a vibrant creative, community and cultural destination venue, redefined as a new learning, performance and creative industries centre.
The project’s initial $30m in funding is secured, and ANAM is working with government and supporters to confirm the required $35m balance, our gift to our community. The final terms of our newly drafted lease will go to Council later this month. If our plans meet with approval at that public meeting – and our proposal closely aligns with Council’s Cultural Strategy and Emerald Hill Precinct Plan – the community will be invited to make comment before the proposal returns to Council for a final vote.
More than a place that preserves old memories, the South Melbourne Town Hall will become a place for imagining new ones, delivering transformative experiences to our bruised post-COVID community, and beyond, for generations.
