ANAM is thrilled to welcome the world-renowned Lutosławski Quartet to the Abbotsford Convent for a week of intensive music-making.
Taking its name from 20th-century master Witold Lutosławski, the ensemble was founded in 2007 and is now one of Poland’s leading string quartets. Renowned for its focus on 20th and 21st-century repertoire, the Quartet is dedicated to championing Polish music, performing works by composers including Witold Lutosławski, Karol Szymanowski, Paweł Mykietyn and Marcin Markowicz — one of the ensemble’s own members.
In the first concert of their residency, the Lutosławski Quartet unites with ANAM musicians in an exploration of string chamber works. This performance brings together string quartets and quintets by Polish composers Grażyna Bacewicz and Karol Szymanowski, alongside string orchestra works by Perttu Haapanen and Richard Meale.
