As a musician’s instrumental proficiency develops, so too does their artistic taste and temperament. Each ANAM musician’s recital is a snapshot in time – simultaneously summarising their year of training and revealing glimpses of their future selves. What music excites them? What do they want to communicate? How does their art help them understand the world better? Hear what the next generation of virtuosi have to say, and how, in the 2026 ANAM Recital series.
Fairy Tales and Storm
"This recital features a range of contrasting music, from Robert Schumann’s dreamy Fairy Tales to Mozart’s tumultuous Sonata, which may have been influenced by the death of his beloved mother. In between these two works is Scriabin’s Sonata-Fantasy, whose lyrical first movement evokes the image of a quiet night by the seashore, while the second movement depicts the restless movement of the waves. I will finish with Eritaña by Albéniz, a vibrant work inspired by the dances and songs of Spain, full of joy and spirit.
I have really enjoyed preparing this recital, exploring new concepts and experimenting with new ideas. The wide emotional range of the program has made the journey enjoyable, and I hope you will enjoy experiencing these contrasting musical worlds with me." — Miffy Wang
