**NEW DATE** ANAM Recital: Josephine Daniel

As a musician’s instrumental proficiency develops, so too does their artistic taste and temperament. Each ANAM musician’s recital is a snapshot in time – simultaneously summarising their year of training and revealing glimpses of their future selves. What music excites them? What do they want to communicate? How does their art help them understand the world better? Hear what the next generation of virtuosi have to say, and how, in the 2026 ANAM Recital series.

"I’m so excited for this recital! It starts with Clarinettologia - a bucket-list piece that is simply a whole lot of fun. For the next piece, I’ve always felt that the third movement of Debussy’s String Quartet would really suit a clarinet quartet. The movement’s subtonal pianissimo writing emulates that quasi niente clarinet sound so naturally, and I think it sounds absolutely amazing. My quartet and I are so excited to share it with you all! Then I’ll be joined by my associate artist Berta, and together we’ll play Brahms’ sonata for clarinet and piano in Eb major, one of my all-time favourite pieces in the clarinet repertoire. Finally, I’ll be joined by some of my lovely clarinet friends - some I’ve known for years, and others I’ve been lucky enough to meet since moving to Melbourne. We’ll continue exploring the theme of string pieces arranged for clarinets with Max Richter’s Vivaldi Recomposed: Spring, but more importantly, we’ll have a lot of fun playing together." — Josephine Daniel
