Toby is in his second year at ANAM in 2026, studying under Colin Prichard.
Prior to commencing at ANAM Toby completed a Bachelor of Music with Honours at the University of Melbourne studying trombone under Professor Don Immel, and earlier, a Bachelor of Music at the University of Tasmania studying under David Robins.
With a love for performing orchestral music, Toby has previously had opportunities to perform alongside the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, the Australian Youth Orchestra and the University of Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. Of these experiences he has most enjoyed performing ballet suites of Stravinsky and Prokofiev.
Toby performs in chamber ensembles and as a soloist, often seeking opportunities to play in brass-based chamber ensembles and to perform pieces with unconventional instrumentation. He loves discovering lesser known and under performed works as well as performing works for unaccompanied trombone.
