Season 2026 Now On Sale - LEARN MORE

MusiciansRosie Bennett

Rosie is a compelling percussionist who commences studies at ANAM in 2026, and looks forward to learning from Peter Neville, John Arcaro and her fellow ANAM musicians.

Originally from Sydney, Rosie completed a Bachelor of Music at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music under the guidance of Kevin Man.

Rosie performed alongside Swiss percussionist Fritz Hauser and Synergy Percussion as a Young Artist in Residence in 2024. Captivated by Fritz's theatrical approach to minimalist percussion practice, Rosie was inspired to form multi-instrumental ambient ensemble Dogtooth. Notably, Dogtooth has collaborated with Welsh artist and sculptor Cerith Wyn Evans for his 2025 exhibition, in light of the visible, performing John Cage's Four6 at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney, and also performed in Backstage Music's Midnight Static at the Living Room Theatre. Rosie and Dogtooth were awarded a highly competitive Contemporary Music Development Grant under the guidance of Debora de Graaff.

Rosie's dedication to her practice has been amplified by her participation in masterclasses with acclaimed percussionists such as Marc Damoulakis and Shaun Trubiano.

Rosie's passion extends beyond contemporary and chamber music. In 2023, she was appointed Principal Percussionist of Sydney Youth Orchestra's flagship orchestra, performing side-by-side with musicians from London Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Sir Simon Rattle. Rosie also performed Mahler's Symphony No. 6 with The Orchestra Project.

Rosie muses that percussion is the best instrument for someone like her with a short attention span and need for constant stimulation, immersing herself in a music practice that is experienced through all the senses.
