Laura began learning bassoon from Rick McIntyre in 2015. She soon joined the Canberra Youth Orchestra, igniting her love of music which was amplified when she joined the Chamber Ensembles Program at the Australian National University Open School of Music. For four years, this great program gave Laura the opportunity tio perform in a wide range of chamber ensembles, developing her skills in, and her love for, chamber music.
Laura commenced her undergraduate studies in 2021 at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, University of Melbourne, with Lyndon Watts. She performed regularly with the University's Symphony Orchestra and played in a range of chamber ensembles with students, staff and guest professionals. Laura's passion for the Baroque bassoon and Historically Informed Performance began whilst a member of the University's Baroque Ensemble. This has led to memorable performances, including Bach's Mass in B Minor with the Sydney Chamber Choir and Muffat Collective Orchestra.
During her studies, Laura was awarded the Donald William Thornton Bequest Scholarship, the Wright Prize in Instrumental Music, and the Ormond Exhibition in Music. She graduated her Bachelor of Music with First Class Honours in 2025.
Laura commences her first year at ANAM in 2026, under the tutelage of Lyndon Watts.
Outside of performance, Laura enjoys playing piano as a hobby and playing board games with friends.
