ANAM Recitals are an opportunity for musicians to make their own personal musical statement, through performance, repertoire and presentation.
Viennese Masterworks and Australian Landscapes
From Anna Rabinowicz: "I am very much looking forward to my upcoming ANAM recital!
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Concerto for Flute is one of my favourite works in the flute repertoire. I am very excited to be performing this piece with a chamber orchestra of fellow ANAM musicians.
The following piece in the program is Ross Edwards’ Nura, for which I will be joined by ANAM Associate Artist Peter de Jager. Emblematic of Edwards’ style, this composition is an ode to Australian nature, landscapes and soundscapes.
My recital is bookended by virtuoso compositions of two Viennese masters who received very different levels of recognition during their lifetimes. Carl Frühling’s music was rejected in early-20th Century Vienna because he was Jewish, and unfortunately, many of his compositions have since been lost or destroyed. Frühling’s music is marked by soaring melodies and drama (in a similar style to that of other composers of the time such as Strauss, Mahler), and I am very much looking forward to performing one of his few rediscovered works with ANAM pianist Matthew Garvie." - Anna Rabinowicz
