Composed for Stephanie Sheridan
Commissioned by the Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM) as part of the ANAM Set 2026 and written for Stephanie Sheridan, to be premiered during ANAM’s 2026 recital season at the Abbotsford Convent, Melbourne.

About the composer:
Klearhos Murphy is a Greek-Australian composer who focuses on the capacity of Eastern Orthodox spirituality and Greek Folk music to inform his creative process when composing new works. He has worked with national and international ensembles such as the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, West Australian Symphony Orchestra, Perth Symphony Orchestra, Vienna Pops Orchestra, Willoughby Symphony Orchestra, and the WAAPA Symphony Orchestra. In 2023, he was awarded Willoughby Symphony Orchestra's Young Composer of the Year 2023 award, and participated in the Saruya Artists Residency in Fujiyama, Japan in the same year. In 2024, Klearhos was accepted for Omega Ensemble's CoLAB: Composer Accelerator Program as well as Ensemble Offspring's Hatched Academy 2024, with both programs featuring world premieres at the Sydney Opera House. In addition to working with the MSO as their Cybec Young Composer in Residence in 2025, Klearhos has collaborated with Ensemble Offspring as their inaugural Hatched Alumni Commission 2025 and the Australian Hellenic Choir for their concert 'Portrait of Greece'. He has recently finished a Master of Music (Research) degree at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, and enjoys teaching orchestration, music theory and music history at both the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music and Janet Clarke Hall.
Throughout his career, Klearhos has been fortunate enough to receive numerous awards and scholarships for his work in music, including the WAAPA Symphony Orchestra Composition Competition, St. Mary's Composition Competition, Bendat Family Foundation Scholarship, ROSL Award for Best Composition, JCH Society Scholarship, the Kenneth Moore Memorial Music Scholarship, and the Willoughby Symphony Orchestra Young Composer Award 2025.
Klearhos is based in Melbourne, but calls Perth, WA / Boorloo, Whadjuk Noongar Country home.
