Commissioned by the Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM) as part of the ANAM Set 2026 and written for Liam Furey, to be premiered during ANAM’s 2026 recital season at the Abbotsford Convent, Melbourne.

About the composer:
Charlotte Leamon is a composer and sound artist based in Sydney, Australia. A passionate music-maker and environmentalist, Charlotte composes radical sound worlds about our natural and built environment through various medias including chamber, electroacoustic, multimedia and theatre.

In 2025, Charlotte’s works have been showcased across international and national festivals – The International Sound Art Exhibition (London); Sleepless Festival (Melbourne); Artspring Lauschsalon (Berlin); 5th edition of the Sound Ecology Research Music festival (France); La Hora Acusmática (Argentina); AFAE 2025 Gathering (Queensland); Parramatta Lanes Festival (Sydney).

A recipient of the Chandler Scholarship and University Merit Prize, Charlotte was awarded First Class Honours for a Bachelor of Music (Composition) from the Sydney Conservatorium in 2024 where her pieces have been workshopped by the Australian String Quartet, Opera Australia Orchestra, and recorded by the Sydney Youth Orchestra. In 2026, she commences her Masters of Research (Composition) under the guidance of Damien Ricketson and Daniel Blinkhorn where she will explore the transcription of sonic environments through acoustic performance.

Charlotte’s music has been commissioned by the Australian Haydn Ensemble for her piece Dancing with Death, celebrating the dingo and its value in the Australian environment and communities. Her work Wild Heart received its world premiere in Alaska as part of the program, Composing in the Wilderness, and her works titled Refractional were commissioned by RMIT and premiered at the Melbourne Recital Centre. Her works have been showcased at the Inner West Sounds Festival, Australasian Computer Music Conference and the Whispers and Roars Festival.

Charlotte has curated acousmatic and installation concerts featuring Daniel Blinkhorn and Alexis Weaver, and in late 2024 she curated a multi-channel, multimedia concert for her album Clusters and Bubbles. Charlotte’s sound design for theatre has been showcased nationally and internationally in Edinburgh, New York, and New Zealand.
