MusiciansRuby Luck

Ruby grew up studying piano via the Suzuki method in the Northern New South Wales and Gold Coast Hinterland regions.

Ruby completed her Bachelor of Music at the Queensland Conservatorium, Griffith University, studying with Natasha Vlassenko. During her degree, Ruby received the Owen Fletcher Postgraduate Prize, the Minnie May Bussey Prize and fourth prize in the 2019 Lev Vlassenko Piano Competition. Ruby's concerto opportunities included the Queensland Symphony Orchestra as part of the Lev Vlassenko Piano Competition, Queensland Conservatorium Symphony, and Barrier Reef Orchestra in Townsville.

Following her undergraduate degree, Ruby travelled to Germany, training under Professor Christian A. Pohl at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Leipzig. She is excited to start at ANAM in 2026 under the guidance of Timothy Young.

Chamber music is a great passion for Ruby, as she enjoys the spontaneity and connection that comes when collaborating with other musicians. Her chamber music highlights include performances alongside German violinist Florian Donderer in 2018, pianist Daniel de Borah in 2020, and with the Southern Cross Soloists in 2021.

Her passion for playing with others has culminated in awards including the Hilda Woolmer Prize for Pianoforte Accompaniment, the Margaret Nickson Prize and the John and Sue Thompson for Voice and Piano together with baritone Tom Nicholson.

Ruby has played in masterclasses with acclaimed pianists including Roy Howat, Vyacheslav Gryaznov and Piers Lane. She has also been mentored throughout her studies by prominent Australian pianist Daniel de Borah.
