Naarm-based clarinettist Dario Scalabrini is a passionate young performer who has been described as a “young dynamo” (Limelight Magazine) with “great emotional range” (Brisbane Stage).
Dario has worked with eminent artists and organisations including the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, Auckland Philharmonia, Victorian Opera, Opera Queensland, Simone Young, Lawrence Power, Ensemble Q and Southern Cross Soloists. In addition, he has featured as a solo artist for the Castlemaine State Festival, Melbourne Recital Centre
and Brisbane Music Festival.
Dario is currently in his final year of pre-professional tuition at the Australian National Academy of Music, under the tutelage of David Thomas. He also
holds a Bachelor of Music with Distinction from the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University studying with A/Prof Paul Dean. Dario has received awards from The Ursula Hoff Institute, The Brisbane Club and The Rotary Club of Brisbane for outstanding musical performance.
In mid-2024 Dario is excited to be moving to Helsinki, Finland to pursue Masters studies at the Sibelius Academy.
When he’s not practising the clarinet, Dario loves drinking specialty coffee, cooking up a storm and supporting his team, West Ham United.
