We are pleased to share that last night the Commonwealth Government announced a restoration to our funding. Over the next four financial years ANAM will receive a gradual increase totalling $3.7 million. This support will substantially improve ANAM’s ability to fulfil its mission. We are very grateful to Minister Burke for his commitment to the Australian creative sector by initiating the Financial Sustainability Review of the Arts8 and securing this substantial budget uplift, and for the ongoing support of the Commonwealth Government, which is our major funder.
ANAM’s Chair, John Daley, said that “This is an important commitment to arts and culture in Australia. ANAM and the other Arts8 institutions are vital to training the artists who will be at the forefront of arts and culture in Australia for many years. Appropriate and ongoing government funding will enable ANAM to plan for the long-term, investing in our world-leading training program for the best of Australia’s developing classical musicians.”
The restoration of funding to the Arts8 group of training institutions is a testament to Federal Government’s recognition of the vital role played by organisations like ours in nurturing artistic talent and fostering culture in Australia. This funding restores ANAM's Commonwealth Government funding to previous levels in real terms, and it fills us with optimism for the future. We also deeply appreciate the continued support from our philanthropic and corporate partners, whose contributions complement and enhance our mission.
Conversations with both the Commonwealth and Victorian Governments regarding further support for ANAM's renewal of the South Melbourne Town Hall are ongoing.
