Episode 7: Theme and Variation with Simone Young
by Luke Carbon (QLD clarinet) and Kenny Keppel (NZ clarinet)
Supernova conductor Simone Young is back in the building this week, generously sharing her seemingly boundless knowledge with the ANAM Orchestra through a week of workshops on works by Faure, Berg, and other masters of the theme and variations. We talk about the musicology of the orchestra, what it means to lead an orchestra, and what to do when things go wrong. Over a series of post-performance interviews, we get a better idea about why this Australian legend keeps on coming back to grace the corridors of the Australian National Academy of Music.
