Hon Tony Burke MP
Minster for the Arts (2013, 2022-present)
I have visited ANAM on many occasions, and I’m so proud of your 30th anniversary this year. And, as the federal Arts Minister, I am proud of the support our government has provided to help return ANAM to its home at the South Melbourne Town Hall.
For me, and for so many others, music is oxygen for the soul. The precision and beauty of the work that ANAM’s musicians produce are of great value, not just to me, but to Australia’s creative sector and communities across the country, large and small. Now, more than ever, the creative arts are important and are to be nurtured and treasured.
So, for all those hours of practice, in solitude in the rehearsal studio, or with others making chamber music, perfecting your craft — know that what you do matters a great deal, and that’s why we’re getting behind it.
