I began my working life at the Australian National Academy of Music in 2001 as Resident Artist and Assistant Co-ordinator of Studies. ANAM comprised just 16 students drawn from strings and piano and over the past 25 years, through the leadership of six Artistic Directors, ANAM has continually evolved – growing into a cohort of 73 musicians and expanding to include all strings, winds, percussion and piano.

Today in my role as Head of Piano, ANAM’s programs push boundaries and move with the times, embracing the rapid changes shaping our world while keeping a finger firmly on the pulse of contemporary music-alongside the great traditions of the past.
There are far too many wonderful memories to single out, but they speak to the extraordinary breadth and depth of musical experiences ANAM offers, and to the profound way these experiences shape musicians’ lives and future growth. I am immensely proud of how we nurture and guide talent across every style and creative endeavour, and I know firsthand that ANAM’s impact extends well beyond the years of study – it has certainly had this effect on me.
