ANAM musicians will join the Auckland Philharmonia along with singers from Voices New Zealand. Chief Conductor of Auckland Philharmonia Giordano Bellincampi will gather orchestral and vocal forces together to bring Mahler’s all-encompassing vision to life.
"The collaboration between our orchestra and ANAM is a cornerstone in our mission to develop our art form and to give young players the best opportunities to flourish. We are proud of our achievement in passing on the experience and the knowledge of our tenure players, while we also enjoy the inspiration and the new angles offered by the young and extremely talented ANAM musicians. Our projects together are some of the highlights of our season, and we are so pleased to see alumni from ANAM coming back to us as professional players and we feel proud of them every time we hear they have found their way into the business nationally or internationally. It is a unique opportunity for young AUS and NZ musicians, deserving all possible support." - Giordano Bellincampi, Chief Conductor at Auckland Philharmonia
‘The symphony must be like the world—it must embrace everything,’ said Gustav Mahler. This is true of his Symphony No. 3 most of all. Music depicting nature’s awakening after a long winter rubs shoulders with the most carefree music Mahler ever wrote; the rapt stillness of high summer, the quiet contemplation of night; a joyous vision of heaven and an overpowering hymn to love.
