Opening with unique brass arrangements of two of Mozart’s most profound moments – the Kyrie and Lacrimosa from his Requiem – this Wednesday morning performance begins with power and pathos. Intensities deepen as Shostakovich's Chamber Symphony takes flight under the direction of ANAM’s Head of Violin Adam Chalabi. Inspired by his own String Quartet No. 8, this deeply personal 25-minute work by Shostakovich was written in just three days and is filled with haunting meditations on loss and survival.
To round out the concert, ANAM musicians present Mozart at his most delightful in Eine Kleine Nachtmusik. The classical charm of this Mozart masterpiece is the perfect conclusion for a journey from the sacred to the secular; the tragic to the triumphant.
Join us for coffee plus sweet and savory treats from 10am in the ground floor foyer.
