What is more vital in opera- the words or the music?
This age-old rivalry is at the heart of Capriccio, Richard Strauss’s final opera. The story of Countess Madeleine embodies this question, as she is chased by two obsessive suitors. Flamand the composer and Olivier the poet who attempt to woo Countess Madeleine, a widowed art lover, with their artistic creations.
ANAM Musicians will join the Victorian Opera to perform this operatic masterpiece, conducted by the legendary Simone Young AM.
