Messiaen's Turangalîla (AUCKLAND)

Everything about the Turangalîla Symphony is exuberant, colourful and excessive. It is an extravagant celebration of love, with music of total exhilaration centred around a blissful movement called, beguilingly, The Garden of Love’s Sleep.

It requires a massive orchestra of over 100 musicians and two soloists. ANAM is excited to be joining the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra, innovative pianist Joanna MacGregor and the world’s finest ondes player, Cynthia Millar to present what is sure to be one of the true highlights of the Auckland Arts Festival 2019.

To open the concert, musical expert Graham Abbott will present an insightful and informative mini Unwrap Messiaen’s Turangalîla, which is sure to enrich your enjoyment of this monumental work.
