Sydney Film Festival: Resonance

Witness a one-off live musical event at the State Library of NSW with the premiere of Resonance – an hypnotic short documentary portrait of ANAM's Artamidae Quartet (alum, 2023) and their preparation for ANAM Quartetthaus. The film premiere will be followed with a live performance from current ANAM musicians and a panel discussion on cross-collaborative projects. Presented by the Australian Film Television and Radio School (AFTRS) and ANAM, at the Sydney Film Festival 2024.

From directors Jayden Rathsam Hua and Kate Vinen (Acts for the Invisible, SFF 2021), Resonance opens with scenes of construction outside Melbourne’s Royal Exhibition Building. Workers are building what looks like a large wooden box. We soon realise that it’s a performance space, knocked up overnight and then gone – an appropriate symbol for the ephemeral nature of live performance. Capturing footage of a quartet’s rehearsal process and subsequent concert, the directors highlight the various points of connection contained within a live performance: between the quartet members; between the quartet and the audience; and between all the participants and the physical space they share.

Limited seats are available for patrons requiring access for wheelchairs, low vision and hearing loop. Please contact our ticketing team directly on 1300 733 733 or tickets@sff.org.au to complete your booking.
