Each ANAM musician’s recital is a snapshot in time - simultaneously summarising their year of training and revealing glimpses of their future selves. What music excites them? What do they want to communicate? How does their art help them understand the world better? Experience the unique and intimate points of view of each musician individually in this recital series. Hear what the next generation of virtuosi have to say, and how.
A Journey from Handel to Lutosławski
"My program features three great works that will take you through a journey in violin history. Handel’s ‘Great’ D major sonata transports you to the baroque era, with the delightful timbres of the harpsichord and continuo. Jumping forward to the 20th century, we explore the tumultuous writing of one of Poland’s greatest composers, Witold Lutosławski. Subito is a profoundly exciting piece, a bickering display of violin virtuosity that could only be written by Lutosławski. Finally, Brahms’ deeply intimate sonata for violin and piano is a work I’ve had my heart set on for years. His exceptional writing has taken me on a journey through beautifully expressive musical conversations, truly making me reimagine the sonic possibilities of the violin." - Olivia Kowalik
