ANAM Recital: Molly Collier-O'Boyle (viola)

ANAM Recitals are an opportunity for each ANAM musician to make their own personal musical statement, through performance, repertoire and presentation.
'Reminiscence' explores the concept of recalling past memories through sonic experience.

Like other visual and movement art forms, music is an experience which connects and brings people of all demographics together, and music can reflect on what is happening in our current social, environmental and political climates. This recital celebrates the viola's ability as an instrument to portray a plethora of nostalgic emotions through it's deep and rich sound world. There are folk, contemporary, early music and 20th century impressions in the programming which intertwine stunningly despite a gap of almost 400 years between the oldest and newest works. Humans have always needed an artistic output to help express themselves; and what better way than jotting dots on a piece of paper, noodling around with notes on an instrument and then playing it for the world to hear.
