ANAM Recital: Jared Yapp (viola)

ANAM Recitals are an opportunity for each ANAM musician to make their own personal musical statement, through performance, repertoire and presentation.
An Argentinian tango and Hungarian folk tunes will bookend this viola recital, which will also feature a work written by the performer.

This recital features a piece I have always wanted to play, the Kodály Serenade, and a piece I never knew I liked, the Piazolla Le grand tango. In the middle of these two works is a piece of my own, written a number of years ago but never performed in Australia. I think this piece highlights some of my musical interests from a time in my life where I was moving from composing towards performing more regularly, but it also provides an introspective respite in between two very energetic and outspoken works.
