ANAM Recital: Jack Overall

As a musician’s instrumental proficiency develops, so too does their artistic taste and temperament. Each ANAM musician’s recital is a snapshot in time - simultaneously summarising their year of training and revealing glimpses of their future selves. What music excites them? What do they want to communicate? How does their art help them understand the world better? Experience the unique and intimate points of view of each musician individually in this recital series. Hear what the next generation of virtuosi have to say, and how.

In 2024 the ANAM Set is back in a special iteration. Musicians present a specially commissioned work as part of their recital program.

Absolute Music

"Why do we find meaning in music? In essence music is just an organised collection of sounds, yet within it we have found emotional meaning for millennia. Through this abstract language we will explore a spectrum of emotional possibilities.

It has been such a joy to prepare the works for this recital. It is a combination of music that I have loved for a long time and new, exciting discoveries. This program was partially inspired through working with Connor D'Netto on his new piece to explore the idea of meaning in music. I am especially excited to perform Debussy’s Cello Sonata with wonderful Berta Brozgul."
