Needing no introduction, Simone Young AM returns to conduct the full forces of the ANAM Orchestra in the Australian National Academy of Music's 30th birthday celebration. This one-night-only gala concert features some of the most distinct music of our time, culminating in the glistening sounds of Richard Strauss at the height of his orchestral writing.
Strauss’s deeply moving tone poem Death and Transfiguration is a journey of the soul from death into the shimmering world of the beyond. Alongside this, hear the Australian premiere of the epilogue from centenarian György Kurtág's Fin de Partie, his recent opera inspired by Samuel Beckett's play, Endgame. The virtuosic eccentricity of John Adams is on display in his energetic Chamber Symphony and Sofia Gubaidulina's mystical Fairytale Poem brings a tragic whimsy to this eclectic program.
Join us as Simone Young and the ANAM Orchestra come together to celebrate 30 years of ANAM, Australia’s leading music performance training academy.
