Unlocking the secrets of the harp trio
The Chrysalis Trio takes the floor at the Barossa Regional Gallery for a night of sparkling conversation, music and wine.
Formed when all the musicians were studying at ANAM, the Chrysalis Trio comprises Katie Yap (viola 2014), Kiran Phatak (flute 2013) and Melina van Leeuwen (harp 2014). The Trio is one of the most exciting young ensembles to emerge from Melbourne’s fertile chamber music scene, and combines outstanding musicianship with a creative, inquisitive approach to repertoire.
Their name draws inspiration from their shared love of nature, and their time spent in the Royal Botanic Gardens in Melbourne, where they would take breaks from intensive rehearsals at ANAM, and discuss music, nature, history and philosophy.
For one special night only, the trio will share stories from their ANAM Artists tour, unlock some of the mysteries of the harp, and use repertoire from their tour program to deepen your understanding of how classical ensembles perform together.
An event for music lovers of all ages, this evening salon and public seminar is a chance to hear the Chrysalis Trio up close. Come as an observer or come with a question to ask and be immersed in philosophy, sparkling conversation and the Barossa's best hospitality.
