MAHLER CHAMBER ORCHESTRA ACADEMY
Since 2009, the Mahler Chamber Orchestra (MCO) Academy has offered an educational model that provides young musicians with high-quality orchestral experience and a unique platform for networking and international exchange. In addition to audition training, individual coaching and orchestral playing, the Academy also includes chamber music workshops which emphasise the MCO’s characteristic chamber music approach to music-making.
Orchestral instrumentalists from the following training Academies are invited to audition in April each year for the MCO Academy: Orchesterzentrum | NRW, Jove Orquestra Nacional de Catalunya (JONC), Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM), Filarmónica Joven de Colombia (FJC), and current musicians from the Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM).
Musicians at ANAM in 2020 will be eligible to apply for the MCO Academy’s programs in December 2020 and January 2021. Auditions for both programs are via audio/visual recording for ANAM musicians, performing a set list of orchestral excerpts and set work/s. Successful candidates from ANAM are offered financial support towards flights and accommodation to assist with meeting the cost of participation. This opportunity is generously supported by the Ursula Hoff Institute.
