Ruby Shirres is a violist hailing from Central Victoria and currently training under Caroline Henbest at the Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM).
Having participated in programs as well as national and international tours with the Australian Chamber Orchestra, Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra and Australian Youth Orchestra, Ruby has fostered a love of ensemble playing. As a chamber musician, Ruby has been a finalist and Musica Viva Prize-winner in three ensembles over two years in ANAM’s Chamber Music Competition, and was invited to participate in the 2020 Evolution of the String Quartet at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity in Canada.
When not playing, you’ll find Ruby with a camera in hand, walking in the bush or baking something delicious.
