Cora is a violist originally from the Canberra region. She began learning the violin in primary school and switched to viola around the age of 13, studying with John Gould.
After taking a gap-year to travel, work and practice, Cora commenced a Bachelor of Music Performance at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, studying with Roger Benedict. In her second year, Cora was chosen to apply for a scholarship-supported exchange to the Royal Academy of Music in London to study with Garfield Jackson; this year was hugely formative. She graduated from the Sydney Conservatorium in 2017.
Cora has performed in many different ensembles in Australia as well as internationally, with highlights including scholarships to attend the Estivo Summer School in Verona, Italy with the Bronte Quartet in 2015; and Orford Music Academy in Quebec with the Geist Quartet in 2017. In 2019 Cora became a casual member of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.
In 2018 Cora participated in the Mahler Chamber Orchestra Academy with her peers from the Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM) and students from around the world alongside members of the MCO under the baton of Andrés Orozco-Estrada. This was an extremely rewarding opportunity and Cora is grateful to ANAM for providing the opportunity and financial support to attend the course. Other highlight opportunities have been touring with the Australian Chamber Orchestra in February 2020, chamber music and masterclasses with Lawrence Power in 2019, masterclasses with Tobias Lea in 2018-19, and the side-by-side opportunities with Auckland Philharmonia and West Australia Symphony Orchestra in 2019.
Cora has enjoyed teaching violin and viola for the past six years. Her final activity with the Sydney Conservatorium of Music was a scholarship to travel to Samoa to tutor the National Orchestra of Samoa under the guidance of Goetz Richter in 2017.
She is in her third year at ANAM in 2020, and is very excited to be continuing studies with the amazing Caroline Henbest and making the most of the ANAM program.
