Double Bassist Kinga Janiszewski now lives in Melbourne after growing up in coastal QLD and the ACT. She studied under Max McBride at the Australian National University (ANU) and during her studies there, played with the Canberra Symphony Orchestra and performed in many of the Canberra International Music Festivals.
Now in her final year at the Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM) under the guidance of Damien Eckersley, Kinga is excited to start making an impact on the music scene with the ultimate goal to become a performing musician in all aspects. She finds orchestral music good for the soul, and loves connecting with an intimate audience through chamber music and helping others discover rarely-heard solo double bass repertoire.
During her time at ANAM Kinga has performed with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Queensland Symphony Orchestra and performed at the Huntington Chamber Music Festival. Other achievements include first prize in ANU’s Chamber Music Competition (2012) and playing Principal Bass in the Australian Youth Orchestra.
In addition to music Kinga really enjoys cooking and learning how to make things from scratch. Rarely a week goes by without Kinga entertaining her fellow ANAM friends with culinary delights and board games. Kinga also really enjoys photography and during her summers enjoys camping in the wilderness and photographing the stars.
