Daniel began cello lessons at the age of eight with David Lale (Principal Cellist with the QSO). He held principal positions within the Queensland Youth Orchestras from 2004-2009 and performed as a soloist with them on numerous occasions.
Daniel is a graduate of the Queensland Conservatorium, Griffith University, where he studied with Markus Stocker and Matthew Farrell. Daniel led many of the conservatorium orchestras and performed as a soloist in the 2013 Encounters Music Festival.
Daniel was the Principal Cellist with the Australian Youth Orchestra's Young Symphonists in 2010. In the same year, he attended AYO's Advanced Chamber Music Camp by special invitation as a junior. In 2012, he received the AYO's Peter Weiss Cello Scholarship. Daniel was a member of the AYO from 2012-14, playing on the front desk in all three years, and leading the cello section for the 2012 July season, which featured the Alpine Symphony (Richard Strauss) conducted by Simone Young. He was co-principal cellist for the AYO's international tour in August 2013, conducted by Christoph Eschenbach. He also participated in the AYO's Advanced Chamber Players from 2012-14. At the beginning of 2015, he attended his last national music camp, in which he was Principal in the Scullthorpe Chamber Orchestra.
Daniel is a casual cellist with the QSO and MSO and has played in both orchestras' flagship series. He is also a casual member of the Camerata of St John's, and performed with them at the 2014 Darwin Music Festival.
