2019 MusiciansMia Stanton

Inspired by the sounds of her father playing jazz piano as a young girl, Mia started piano aged five and violin aged nine. Throughout school she loved playing and held music scholarships at Narrabundah College and the ANU Open School of Music where she completed both her AmusA on piano, and LmusA on violin.

Mia completed her Bachelor of Music Performance under Associate Professor Alice Waten in 2017. Throughout 2018 she was both an Emerging Artist with the Australian Chamber Orchestra and an Auckland Philharmonic Orchestra Fellow.

Mia plays regularly as a casual musician with the Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra and the Canberra Symphony Orchestra. With the Australian Youth Orchestra she has toured internationally, and collaborated with the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, the Australian World Orchestra and Momentum Ensemble.

Playing chamber music has been a musical highlight for Mia, and in 2016 and 2017 she was selected to participate in the Sydney Conservatorium's Estivo Chamber Music Summer School in Italy. In quartets she has worked with Eberhard Feltz and members of the London Haydn, Kuss, and Goldner Quartets.

Mia is excited to be commencing training at the Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM) in 2019.
