Jarrod is a vibrant young performer with a passion for the simple things in life. Having a music teacher as a father meant an early start for Jarrod, beginning the cornet and drum kit from five years old, and progressing through the AMEB piano program from the age of seven. It wasn't until he was 12, that Jarrod wanted a new challenge and decided the trombone was the way to go. Teaching himself the instrument, the following year he won the Juvenile State Solo competition in NSW. Throughout secondary school, Jarrod was involved in many of his school’s musical productions, providing experience as a pit musician for the young trombonist.
Jarrod studied his Bachelor of Music at Sydney Conservatorium, learning with Nigel Crocker and Scott Kinmont. Whilst studying at the Conservatorium, Jarrod was extensively involved in chamber music, and performed with the Conservatorium's Wind Symphony and Symphony Orchestra. Jarrod is a member of the Australian Youth Orchestra and has just returned from touring around Europe and China where he got to experience performing in some of the world’s amazing concert venues including the Royal Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. Jarrod has worked as a casual musician with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and the Opera Australia Orchestra.
When not in the practice room or on stage, you can catch him relaxing with a coffee. Jarrod is enjoying all the adventures that the Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM) holds in 2019.
