Mesmerised by a visiting Japanese violinist who stayed at her home in Sydney when she was a toddler, she insisted for a violin from her parents and began lessons at the age of five with Yasuki Nakamura. A few years later, Hana joined the Open Academy at Sydney Conservatorium of Music with Philippa Paige, where she was awarded numerous scholarships, and continued with the Rising Star Saturday Program in her pre-tertiary years with Associate Professor Alice Waten.
Hana is a prize-winner of numerous competitions, performing live broadcast on 2MBS for their Young Performers Award in 2008, and winning the Marcus Edward Violin Scholarship in 2012. She was twice a semi-finalist of Kendall National Violin Competition and finalist of the CHAOS competition.
In 2009, she was part of the Australian String Academy receiving masterclasses and lessons from Professor Berent Korfker. Hana discovered her passion for chamber music at the Conservatorium High School where she played in a piano trio, quartet and quintet, and led the Mendelssohn Octet performing at the Government house, St James and St Stephen’s Churches.
During her time at the Sydney Conservatorium, she was the First Violinist of Bronte Quartet studying with Julian Smiles and Alice Waten. In 2015 and 2016 the Quartet studied with Eberhard Feltz, William Coleman, Amryllis Quartet, and Wayne Foster Smith as part of Estivo European Chamber Music Summer School where they gave performances in Verona and Mantua. Shortly after, she was selected to perform in Merz Art Gallery in Turin with a chamber ensemble led by Umberto Clerici.
Hana was also invited to play in Copland’s Appalachian Spring with Verbrugghan Ensemble, an ensemble consisting of principal players of Sydney Symphony Orchestra. In 2017, she performed piano trios at the Musica Viva Festival with AYO Chamber Players, consequently receiving guidance from Lambert Orkis, Elias Quartet and Jonathan Tooby.
Hana has played with many orchestras including Modern Music Ensemble, Conservatorium Chamber and Symphony Orchestras, Australian Youth Orchestra, and the SBS Youth Orchestra.
Currently 21 years of age, Hana is in her second year at Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM) under the tutelage of Dr Robin Wilson and Sophie Rowell and has completed Bachelor of Music in violin performance at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music.
