Ennes Mehmedbasic is a classical oboist from Sydney and is committed to exploring the versatility of the oboe. He performs a wide range of repertoire, often not originally scored for oboe, and also delves into other genres including jazz, and the traditional music of various nationalities.
Ennes enjoys performing in all ensembles, whether as a soloist, chamber musician, or in an orchestra. Much of his orchestral experience comes from playing in youth orchestras, and has taken part in programs with Australian Youth Orchestra from 2012 to 2016, including the International Tour with Christoph Eschenbach and Joshua Bell, and the Chamber Players Program, which in 2013 was part of the Musica Viva Festival. He was also a member of Sydney Youth Orchestras from 2009 to 2014.
As a soloist, Ennes has performed with a number of community orchestras in Sydney, including the Eastern Suburbs Chamber Orchestra, Ku-ring-Gai Philharmonic Orchestra (KPO), Orchestra 143, Sydney Youth Orchestra, and the North Sydney Symphony Orchestra. Competition successes include Winner of the 2012 NSW Secondary Schools Concerto Competition, the 2014 Fine Music FM Young Virtuosi Award, and he was a finalist in the 2015 Australian Young Performers Award and 2018 Australian Youth Classical Music Competition.
Outside of music, Ennes enjoys playing chess, reading, and a variety of sports. This year, Ennes is training with Jeff Crellin at the Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM).
